Prepare for Your Class
Thank you for signing up for a class at Shane's Shooting School! Now that you have registered, you will need to prepare for your class. Information on paying for the class is below, but first, let's look at what you need to bring and other preparations you need to make.
What to bring:
- Gun
- Minimum caliber is 9mm (for automatic) or .38 (for revolver).
- Guns are available for rental from the instructor for $10, but you must reserve one in advance (see our contact page).
- Two (2) boxes of ammunition
- Ammo is available for purchase at the range, but call them to ensure that they have your caliber and to reserve your box. If you are renting a gun you must purchase your ammo from the range.
- Ear protection (earplugs or ear muffs) — Print out a coupon for free earplugs!
- Eye protection (safety glasses)
- A cap or hat of some kind is required.
Pay For Your Class
You can pay for your classes conveniently by choosing from the options below. The Pay Now buttons will open up a new browser window and take you to PayPal. To process your payment, just follow the directions on PayPal's site. Note that refunds will not be given, but paid classes can be transferred to another date, or another person.

Print out a copy of your receipt and bring it with you to your class for verification. If you have a LivingSocial coupon, please bring it to the class. Any student without a receipt, a check payment, or a coupon will not be able to take the class.
After Your Class
- State Application Forms: You can visit the DPS website and apply for your license online, or you can just download the application forms, print them, fill them out, and bring them with you to the class.
- Fingerprinting: The state approved vendor of fingerprinting for CHL Licensees is L1 Identity Solutions. Please see the DPS website's Fingerprints and Photos information page, for more information.
- Also, please download the Texas Concealed Handgun Laws and Selected Statutes (PDF). If you have the ability, please read it before your class.
Sunday CHL classes:
If you signed up for a Sunday CHL class, please fill out the New or Renewal form below. The cost for Sunday classes is $115 per person for New applicants and $75 for Renewals.
